Last Tuesday we had the amazing opportunity to listen to Mark Power go through his career and the process of his work. Prior to this talk we were given a small task to produce a set of images responding to Mark Powers’ work. As this was held in my home town, I knew my way around so this made it slightly easier to know where to go to find certain locations to get the ‘Mark Power’ feel. Mark Power tends to photograph run down areas within a society which includes abandoned areas, graffiti, alley ways, or simple structures and this was my starting point. I have photographed Hinckley a lot prior to coming to University so it was rather easy to find these specific elements throughout the town. Here are some of the photographs I took in response to Mark Powers work.
